WWE Needs To Drop Eva Marie From NXT—And Fast

September 26, 2015 | Posted by Greg De Marco

After being given every opportunity to improve, 411Mania’s Greg DeMarco believes WWE NXT Diva Eva Marie is a lost cause…and it’s time to move on.

I’m all about opportunity, I really am. Hell, I am a great example of an opportunity. Nearly five years ago, 411Mania (thanks to Ari Berenstein) gave a golden opportunity to an unknown blogger by handing him the reigns of The Wrestling 5&1. That blogger made some early mistakes, but learned, grew, and molded the column into his own. He took it to new heights, and now he gets to write opinions for thousands upon thousands of readers, multiple times per week.

That blogger’s name is Greg DeMarco, and it was all made possible by an opportunity afforded to me by Larry Csonka.

Whenever someone like joins a site like 411Mania, they’re bound to make mistakes. Well when Eva Marie joined the WWE, she made her fair share of mistakes. She made more than her fair share of mistakes! And the WWE didn’t do her any favors by putting her in the ring without enough training to perform up to a standard necessary for WWE television.

Let’s call it what it is. When Eva Marie first started in-ring competition for the WWE, she was beyond bad. She was terrible. She made Dana Brooke look like Judy Freaking Grable.

And that was one of her better performances! Now, I know you all (and Tony Acero) really love AJ Lee. So you’d have to think AJ Lee can carry her to a good match, right?

WRONG.

But she was given a fair chance to improve. More than fair actually.

Eva Marie was sent to train, separate from the rest of the NXT talent, in California. She utilized the Santino Bros. Wrestling Academy, and was trained by former WWE superstar (and multi time champion) Brian Kendrick.

And she’s gonna put in the hard work. She wants to be the best WWE Diva ever! In fact, she demands that her training continue! And continue it did.

The training videos showed a ton of promise, and I was ready to give Eva Marie another chance. Armed with her “All Red Everything” gimmick, I wanted to see her become the next Trish Stratus and prove all of the naysayers wrong.

And that opportunity came along two months ago on NXT.

Now she did learn to take a better bump, that’s for sure. But there were some really painful parts of that match. First off, the commentary team trying to convince me that Eva Marie is going to prove herself. Prove herself terrible? Okay.

The second, and most telling, was Eva Marie’s finisher. What we watched was Cassie (now wrestling as Peyton Royce) flipping Eva Marie over self. In fact, change the commentary around and it becomes an offensive move for Cassie. Somehow, Eva Marie looks WORSE than before she received special, individualized training!

But that’s okay, because Eva Marie was given more opportunities, including one against Billie Kay (the former Jessie McKay).

That’s right, after over four minutes of Corey Graves trying to put Eva Marie over, she forgets to kick out. And that’s followed by Jessie McKay doing Eva Marie’s finisher for her, just to ensure Eva doesn’t injure herself. Because that’s what you should have to do with the future of the NXT Divas Division.

Point blank: Eva Marie fucking sucks.

Regardless of competition, Eva Marie goes from bad to worse, and from worse to scary. And what’s more, she’s taking away valuable television time from the likes of Emma, Dana Brooke, Billie Kay, Peyton Royce, Carmella, Alexa Bliss, NXT Women’s Champion Bayley and even Blue Pants. With the “Four Horsewomen” heading to the main roster, these are the women who should be taking over the NXT Divas Division.

Not Eva Marie. She isn’t capable, and her limited skills are already deteriorating.

I don’t care what Eva Marie believes, or what Mick Foley predicts, or what the reported plans are.

If the WWE is serious about a Divas Revolution, and a revitalized division, they need to focus on the future. Eva Marie had her opportunity, and she got worse. She got trained, and she got exposed. The last thing any “revolution” needs is that dumpster fire holding a championship.

It’s time to end the experiment, and let the talented—and capable—Divas shine in the spotlight.
