Tampa Police Names Suspect in Theft of Hulk Hogan Sex Tape
– Tampa police have identified the person they say stole Hulk Hogan’s sex tape with Heather Clem. FOX 13 News reports that authorities have revealed details of their investigation into the tape theft, naming Matt “Spiceboy” Loyd as the person who stole it along with several other sex tape DVDs from Bubba “the Love Sponge” Clem’s office.
According to police, Loyd — a former employee of Bubba’s — stole the DVDs and then shopped clips of the Hogan sex tape to TMZ in order to build interest. He was ultimately paid $8,500 for the bits of the tape, and also contacted Keith Davidson — a “well-known sex tape broker” — to “engage in the extortion” of Hogan.
Police say that Loyd tried to keep his name out of things by hiring a middleperson, a woman named Lori Burbridge, to handle the details. She met with the sex tape broker to handle the negotiations. Loyd claimed that he had obtained the sex tapes during a yard sale by the Clems.
There is no mention in the report of how Gawker, who Hogan is suing for $100 million for the clip they released, got the tape.
