Mission Accomplished: Raw Proves That The Divas Revolution Is Working

September 16, 2015 | Posted by Greg De Marco

Nikki Bella is now the longest reigning WWE Divas Champion of all time, breaking AJ Lee’s record. So what we all knew was going to happen, happened. And now her match with Charlotte on Sunday has more heat behind it than any main roster women’s match in recent history.

Triple H once again used the internet’s emotions against them, and once again it’s working. Fans got all worked up over AJ Lee’s monumental reign (where she defended the championship a grand total of seven times, mind you), and in turn got heated over the prospect of Nikki Bella breaking the record. This past Monday on Raw, we were treated to a false title change, where Brie Bella used some “Twin Magic” to help out her sister. Granted, “Twin Magic” has become irrelevant given the differences between the Bella Twins these days, but the referee fell for it nonetheless.

Add in the full-on celebration with Ric Flair, Becky Lynch and Paige, and you had a recipe for some true magic when Stephanie McMahon came out and took the title away from Charlotte. The Bella Twins cheated, got caught, lost, and still walked out with their championships—putting more heat behind Nikki than any other point in her now-record-breaking reign. Charlotte has more fan support behind her than ever before—not just internet/hardcore fan support, but casual fan support as well. We have a stipulation for Night Of Champions that works perfectly within the story and further backs Nikki into a corner.

It may not have gone how many wanted it to, but the Divas Revolution IS working. And when Nikki finally loses (and probably not at Night Of Champions) it’ll be a big deal. While it wasn’t on many “playlists,” Nikki Bella has been the catalyst for this revolution, and her portion of the story isn’t done yet.

Divas Revolution? Mission accomplished. Mission #1 that is.

But it’s one mission within the larger revolution. Can they keep it going? That’s the more important question.
