UPDATED: Matt Sydal Arrested in Japan For Cannabis Possession
UPDATE: Pwinsider.com spoke with a friend of Sydal this morning, who had the following to say about the situation…
“People are going to vilify him for this, but before they do, they should take a moment to think about the fact that he completely mangled his foot in that wreck a few years back. He is in a state of near-constant pain because of those injuries. It’s amazing he’s walking on it, much less performing on it. People have no idea what Matt goes through on a daily basis with that foot. So, if they vilify him, they are vilifying him for trying to maintain the quality of life he had before the wreck.”
ORIGINAL: According to Nikkan Sports (via STRIGGA), Matt Sydal was arrested for possession of cannabis on September 23rd. Sydal was caught with a, “hidden pipe containing liquid cannabis two and a pipe containing cannabis two of a state of being attached to the electronic cigarette” and arrested at Kansai airport. It was a total of 2.12 grams found.
If found guilty, Sydal could be banned from entering Japan in the future, which if that is all he gets would be a best case scenario. Japan is very strict when it comes to punishing for cannabis possession; foreigners have been arrested and placed in prison for up to five years for as little as 0.5 gram.
Sydal was mysteriously pulled from the September 25th Destruction in Kobe event, and replaced with David Finlay Jr. The interesting thing will be the discovery of who posted for Sydal on Twitter on September 25th, claiming he had passport trouble and was stuck in Hawaii…
Hi everyone. Had passport trouble at the border after spending an extra day at LAX. Chillin in Hawaii until this sorts out #travelwoes

Thanks everyone but I'm the kind of guy that likes to go off the grid sometimes #ALOHA

Can I still consider myself "off the grid" if I use Twitter, but not Facebook, Instagram, text, or phone? #TravelWoes #Hawaii #PEACE
