Linda McMahon Under Consideration For Commerce Secretary

November 13, 2016 | Posted by Jeremy Thomas

– While some may have questioned a report over the weekend that Linda McMahon is in the running for a position in President-elect Trump’s cabinet due to the source of the report, we now have more credible information suggesting this is the case. NBC Connecticut says that they have confirmed with sources close to both McMahon and Trump’s transition team that she is one of the names under consideration for Secretary of Commerce.

The original report came from the Daily Star, a UK tabloid, but the new bit comes from a credible news site which gives the news some more weight. McMahon initially endorsed Chris Christie for the Republican nomination but backed Trump once he won the nomination. Of course, the ties between Trump and the McMahons are well-known, Trump having done business with WWE on several occasions.

Linda McMahon is no stranger to politics herself, having served on the Connecticut Board of Education in 2009 to 2010 until she resigned due to state election officials restricting political activities by board members. She then ran for US Senate both in 2010 and 2012, losing to Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy respectively.
