Josh Samman in Coma Following Possible Drug Overdose

October 3, 2016 | Posted by Jeremy Thomas

Josh Samman is in a coma after he was found unresponsive in a south Florida apartment last week by cops responding to a suspected drug overdose. MMAjunkie reports that the Hollywood, Florida Police Department released a statement today about the incident regarding the UFC middleweight, noting that police responded to a call about a possible drug overdose on September 29th and discovered Samman and a friend of his, Combat Night MMA announcer Troy Jeffery Kirkingburg. Kirkingburg was deceased, while Samman was found “breathing, and had a pulse, but was unresponsive.”

The call was placed by a friend of theirs, Hunter Sundberg, who performed CPR until police arrived. No evidence of foul play has been uncovered and police are investigating. The UFC has been in contact with Samman’s management team.

Samman’s mother released a statement to FOX Sports shooting down rumors that Samman had heroin in his bloodstream. “In spite of speculation, there was no heroin found in Josh’s system whatsoever,” the statement read. “No matter what people are posting on social media. The reason I am making this statement is, because Josh touched so many lives, and loved inspiring others, especially young people. I don’t want them to lose faith in him, and whatever he brought out in them, because of the lies. He would want them to never give up.”
