Dana White Says Rousey Won’t Be Holm’s Next Opponent

January 6, 2016 | Posted by Jeremy Thomas

Holly Holm’s first title defense will not be a rematch with Ronda Rousey. Dana White revealed on FOX Sports 1’s UFC Tonight that Holm will face another opponent before the much-anticipated rematch happens, noting, “Holly Holm will fight before she fights Ronda.”

White has previously said that he would be very likely to book Rousey vs. Holm next, preferable at UFC 200. Holm has said that she would like to fight sooner and has suggested that Miesha Tate could be a worthy contender. It is not known whether Tate will be Holms opponent, nor when Holm’s next fight will happen.

As to Rousey, White said, “You will see Ronda Rousey fight again. Ronda has dedicated the last three-plus years to working hard here. Not just fighting, but promoting and taking the sport and the UFC to a whole other level. Ronda has some well-deserved time off but she will fight this year.”
